Ridiculously epic and epically ridiculous, Fake Nerd Girl is the story of one girl’s rise to superhero stardom in the face of unrelenting internet trolls. Cheer as she lays waste to alien invaders, applaud as she outwits the undead dragon, and rejoice as she battles the ultimate internet overlord. Fake Nerd Girl is feminist geekery at its finest: hilarious, awkward and totally kick ass.
Following the performance will be a panel discussion around cyber bullying, doxxing, and public shaming. Panelists TBA
When asked what motivated Chloe to create this piece, she had this to say:
“After Gamergate in 2013 (a harassment campaign that targeted women in the video game industry) I knew that I needed to write about people like me: nerd girls. I wanted to create something that was super geeky, super funny yet super feminist. Fake Nerd Girl is just that: a love letter to nerd culture and a battle cry against trolls. It celebrates nerd culture while condemning the attitudes that led to Gamergate in the first place.”
